I’m participating in Jessica Lin’s 21 Days of Joy, as a resilience practice! Here’s how it’s going…
Day 6 - favorite color
It depends on which part of me you ask. It will be black or some form of fluorescent red paint mixed with white, yellow, and sometimes pink, which ends up in the realm of fluorescent coral… and always brings me joy.
Day 7 - new flavours
I didn’t have plans to go anywhere and get anything new, so I brewed up some Cacao Rasa a different way than I usually do, mixing in almond milk and agave. It was delicious. I was not surprised. I like all of their blends. They have a variety of samplers to purchase and this one is a good place to start if you’re up for trying some new flavors: https://wearerasa.com/collections/samplers/products/try-rasa-whole-damn-fam
Day 8 - gratitude
I’ve been using this app called Finch. One of my daily goals is to write something I’m grateful for. It’s been helpful to keep gratitude practice in the forefront, prompting me in the morning or evening to write something I’m grateful for. I can also send gratitude to my friends who are connected with me on the app. It always makes me smile. The day’s prompt being gratitude, I took time to reflect on how this gratitude practice is making me feel, it is definitely increasing joy and closeness with the people I’m expressing gratitude to.
Day 9 - random act of kindness
Kept it random, kept it simple. ;)
Day 10 - touch
This one is something I think about often, and it’s quite complicated for me. I have Fibromyalgia, which means my nervous system is super sensitive, and it amplifies sensory input. I’m always trying to calm my nervous system down and create a more comfortable situation. Touch - me touching things, but especially things touching me, can be uncomfortable and downright painful. I am hyper-aware of touch and always adjusting. When things that touch don’t hurt, it’s great, but it does bring me joy when touch feels nice - like the feel of my cozy blanket on my feet, while I snuggle into my soft couch or bed, with my animals, or with my husband and I’m the little spoon. Sometimes I can’t feel the coziness, because my senses are overridden with pain signals and humming electricity. But this day, I savored the softness I could feel.

JOYMONGERING
Jessica Lin invited other artists, including myself, to participate in Joymongering. We are noticing, creating, and sharing joy, as an activation to combat the work of the fearmongers and hatemongers. We are also encouraging our connections to join in (that’s you!)
